Day Eight - Daily Meditation:
Refining Your Technique:
Now that you have grown your meditation practice to a solid 15 minutes, you should be seeing some results from your practice. And it is time to start refining your meditation technique. Start to notice if there are consistencies by what distracts you and by what grounds you. Are you just comfortable enough to stay present or are your feeling like you might fall asleep? Are you constantly shifting or able to stay still? What small physical shifts can you make to help you create a more still and present experience?
Continue again today to meditate on your chosen sankalpa, without changing it, without adjusting it, without being distracted by other intentions or obligations that may come up. Stay true to your heart felt intention. Let it be the center of your meditation practice.
Find a quiet time and place, free from distractions.
Set a timer for 15 minutes. Sit or lie comfortably.
- Begin by focusing on your breath, allowing it to become smooth and calm.
- Recall your sankalpa - or intention - that you created in our initial yoga nidra session.
- Let your work be to resist allowing the mind to drift. Stay resolute in your commitment and focus on your sankalpa.
- Repeat your sankalpa to yourself, in rhythm with your breath.
- Once your timer ends, repeat your sankalpa one last time.
- Bring your hands to prayer at heart center and thank yourself for taking this time to commit to your sankalpa and your meditation.
