Day Two - Daily Meditation:

Daily Meditation:

Refining Your Sankalpa

A sankalpa is an intention formed by the heart and mind -- a solemn vow, determination, or will.  In practical terms a sankalpa means a one-pointed resolve to focus both psychologically and philosophically on a specific goal. A sankalpa is a tool meant to refine the will, and to focus and harmonize mind and body. The sankalpa is most resonant during yoga nidra, that state of very deep relaxation. It is believed that when the mind is in this very relaxed, clear place it is also primed and ready - a fertile ground -  for the sankalpa can be written on the subconscious. The more specific and refined your sankalpa becomes, the more impactful it can become. Begin to repeat your sankalpa in the morning, before meditation, or at the beginning of any yoga asana practice.

Find a quiet time and place, free from distractions.

Set a timer for 5 to 10 minutes. Sit or lie comfortably.

- Begin today’s meditation by focusing on your breath, allowing it to become smooth and calm.

- Start to recall your sankalpa - or intention - that you created in our initial yoga nidra session.

- Once again, for today, let your work be to resist allowing the mind to drift. Stay resolute in your commitment and focus on your sankalpa.

- Repeat your sankalpa to yourself in rhythm with your breath.

- Once your timer ends, repeat your sankalpa one last time.

- Bring your hands to prayer at heart center and thank yourself for taking this time to commit to your sankalpa and your meditation.
